Salineño Wildlife Preserve

About the Area

Salineño is a half acre tract near the town of Salineño on the Rio Grande. It is about nine miles west of Roma, Texas off of Salineño Road and Hwy 83. This tract represents flood forest habitat and provides excellent wildlife watching and nature photography opportunities. It includes an information kiosk and walking trail.

While the preserve closes around the end of March and is not accessible after that, there is a trail leading upstream towards the center island which is where many of the Morelet's Seedeaters are seen.
